Ha. Was trying to work on my portfolio. Thought an X-rayish V would be quite appropriate as an icon for one of my projects in the portfolio. Took me quite a while to remember how to create the x ray effect. I'm still not sure whether its the one too.

On creating a x ray effect using photoshop.
1. filter - noise - median
2. play around for desired effect

bento

Mom made a bento set today in order to join a bento making competition.. helped her with the photography and submission of entry. Thought it would be interesting to post it up. Adds variety that sort of thing.

last interim

The last interim of my academic life just came and went. It sort of sinks in when I realized that there would not be any more chances to redeem myself for any inadvertent screw ups. There is always the thought that there would be another interim. But this is it. There would not be anymore. The next time we meet could possibly be the end, or the beginning of something else. Hopefully. It will be the beginning of something wonderful. Till then.

impulse buy

Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm in a bit too deep when my impulse buy is a block of teak wood. Never mind that it may not be used, or that I do not have the heart to use it less i spoil the wood. I'm perfectly happy just owning that block of wood.

something interesting. using brands to talk about mood

Grad show discussion took an interesting turn today. We ended up using brands to describe the sort of mood that we had in mind for the show. It turned out to be quite effective in pin pointing the kind of feel that we had in mind. Keywords were too vague and ambiguous for this discussion. There were too many different interpretations on the keywords proposed.

It seems kind of interesting and novel to use something unconventional to chart out the mood for the grad show. And i think that's what makes it exciting to be in design sometimes.

a paragraph i found on a book

"Most days I can't tell where my life ends and my work begins. I dream about my projects while I'm sleeping and get some of my best ideas while I'm walking the dog. But I don't feel at all like my life is overshadowed. Instead it feels like a balance - like I'm the same person all day, no matter where I am, rather than a person divided between the worlds of office and home. That's the only way I could work without feeling like I was living a double life, a contradiction."

hmm sort of what I feel sometimes when doing projects. Not the walking dog part though. My best ideas comes in the shower or on the bus..
