Keychains

Did a investigation of colours and people's perception of them. So I got them to arrange the colours in a ranking based on a theme I came up with which was from Playful to Formal. Its quite a informal survey with a rather small sample size of 16 people. The results are certainly interesting with a very beautiful and wonderful colour chart. Beside the main chart are my analysis of the various colours. Which I separated them to help me determine my final 6 colours to be used in a presentation.
My final 6 colours. Criteria for deciding the colours were that they had to be a representative of a wide and diverse range, again within the theme of playful to formal. And they had to look good when placed together. And also the colours makes for easy identification when in a cluttered environment, such that users are able to spot their keys in an instant amidst the various objects surrounding them.
Concept sketches for my keychain.
One of the various fun shots I took of my key chains. Photo shoots are probably the most fun part of the process. It is very satisfying to take nice and great looking pictures.

Cradle to Cradle

Cradle to Cradle certainly inspired lots of possibilities and the need to be responsible as designers. Most importantly it questions the design practices of a product, that instead of designing without due regard to what happens to it after its lifespan is over, it considers how a product can benefit the surroundings even it is past its use-by date. It is design at the very beginning, taking in all the factors and considerations, of how the product and the constituents interact with each other and the surroundings and context it is in. And that I believe, is the beauty and value of design. To be able to come up with a product that works harmoniously with its surroundings and contributing beneficially to everyone.

It is certainly mind-boggling but hey, I guess we can try to take it one day at a time. To be able to enjoy the breeze with all the wonderful scents and smells, to be able to enjoy basking under the sun is a blessing to be enjoyed and shared. So for now I shall try my best to be more responsible and walk the talk.

Crab pincers and Crab claw Crackers

Starting on a new project in the coming weeks. I'll be eating, sleeping, dreaming and talking crabs. Mainly how to crack that pincer beautifully without creating a mess. Hopefully I won't be so bitter towards crabs at the end of the year.

Looking for crab crackers or seafood utensils is like looking for a needle in the haystack. There is certainly a lack of this tool. Or have I been looking for them in the wrong places? Went to Orchard to have a look, hoping to catch a high end looking one. However, it seems more elusive than a blue moon. Thankfully managed to get a decent looking one at Cold Storage. Bumped into two of my friends at Taka, while looking at Danish delights and I have to say they have grown much prettier haha. Its little moments of unexpected meetings like this that adds a bit of spice to living. A dash of cinnamon sounds good.

Tomorrow, we live another day. I'll set out again in my search for THE CRAB CRACKER. *cues in music for the nutcracker* Wish me luck then on my quest.
